The Legal Professional Preparatory Program (LP3) hosted the University of Delaware's second annual Law Mentoring Weekend on April 27, 2019. On Saturday, UD students interested in legal careers gathered to learn from alumni and others in the Blue Hen legal community. The event opened with a networking breakfast, with representatives from law schools, local legal employers, and law-related programs.
Following breakfast, attendees participated in mentoring training with Julie Kantor, the founder of Twomentor LLC and a popular guest from last year’s event. Students then had an opportunity to engage in small-group discussions with alumni about mentoring and the law.
During lunch, guests got a glimpse of what it means to be a judge from the keynote panel. The panel featured President Judge Jan R. Jurden of the Superior Court of Delaware, Judge Vivian L. Medinilla of the Superior Court of Delaware, and Magistrate Judge Sherry R. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
Afterwards, students could visit around a dozen unique topic tables on different areas of law and professional development. At each table, alumni and others talked about their experience and expertise in their topic, answering questions and engaging in lively discussions with students.
Attendees also had the opportunity to get a free business headshot, have their resumes reviewed by legal recruiters, and peruse a suit drive.
